It's pretty amazing what magic can put together on short notice. Where tranquil forest stood just hours ago, there's now the obvious signs of a party—and it's all for the people who just got here! Hopefully everyone's dried off by now so they won't catch any chills! Strung up among the trees are paper lanterns glowing lightly and illuminating the area. There's food from all sorts of places set up on tables among the trees, and games are scattered about, with citizens of other worlds manning them. There's also a bonfire in a clearing away from the trees, if you want to get away from all the hustle and bustle… but why wander away? Have fun and socialize, after all, Avalar is your new home!

If you're talking about the dragonfly, it's not really a familiar. All dragons are supposed to have one... and apparently Outsiders get them, too, from the looks of it.

I'm not an outsider. I'm a humanoid. My creature type hasn't changed just on the basis of planar dispersal.

Well... "Outsider" takes a different meaning here. It means you're not native to Avalar, the Dragon Realms, or the Forgotten Worlds.

I feel like this appropriation of an established term is only going to lead to confusion in the long run.

And we already belabored that concept to death with the whole 'level' strip.

Never mind. The point is, I'm here. The question is, why?

It may not look like it, but all the magic in Avalar has been going away for some reason. We think everyone's being brought here to try and replenish it a little... Honestly, though, what we need to do is find what's causing the magic shortage and stop it.

Ah ha. So as a decidedly nonmagical fighter, I've been brought here as someone whose skills and capabilities won't decline due to the magical drain.
