Welcoming Festival

It's pretty amazing what magic can put together on short notice. Where tranquil forest stood just hours ago, there's now the obvious signs of a party—and it's all for the people who just got here! Hopefully everyone's dried off by now so they won't catch any chills! Strung up among the trees are paper lanterns glowing lightly and illuminating the area. There's food from all sorts of places set up on tables among the trees, and games are scattered about, with citizens of other worlds manning them. There's also a bonfire in a clearing away from the trees, if you want to get away from all the hustle and bustle… but why wander away? Have fun and socialize, after all, Avalar is your new home!

Yes, there's nothing like being dragged away from a world-threatening crisis and dumped in a pond to spark optimism in a man.

Either that or the old campaign just got abandoned and I ended up transported to an entirely new one. Probably due to some hand injury.

Campaign? As in a tabletop game?

That's a little more explicit than we normally make it...

... Ah. Well, I was mostly asking because grand adventures aren't really a common thing back in my world outside of things like that, so... [Well, this is just a little awkward.]

Well, we all certainly appear to be on one now. Not that I wasn't before... I'd just like some reassurance that my friends aren't all dead and the world isn't left to the mercies of the two and a half villainous groups currently menacing it.

It's comforting to know that no matter how lousy my life gets, I can always use the power of logic and rational thinking to maintain a realistic outlook.

[It's hard to keep up a good head of steam when it isn't getting fuel. Roy's anger subsides to quiet seething, which he manages to at least not direct at her any more.]

Roy Greenhilt. I'm... Well, I wish we could have met under better circumstances.

Likewise, Monsieur Greenhilt. At any rate, I have a feeling we're going to be stuck here a while...

I don't intend to just sit here and lie idle, but we seem short on any lead for progress. Except for what we've been given, but I'm not sure how to make the best use of them yet.

I guess we really have no choice but to look into things further, especially since it sounds like you need to get home as soon as you can.

Oh, don't worry -- I have no hope of getting home quickly. That would be too easy. Much, much too easy. Not that I've observed a pattern or anything.
